Question by The One: Do you find HD TV a bit too highly defined for watching movies?
I noticed there’s something missing when I watch movies on HD TV. I find movies are diminished in some way that they don’t look natural as when you watch them in cinemas or non HD TV. Do you find HD TV in the same way as I do? Is there any way to configure an HD TV to regain the lost movie effect of movies?

If your tv is 120 hz you may be seeing the “soap opera” effect. To reduce or eliminate it you need to turn down the auto motion setting on your tv. Check your owner’s manual or do a search on settings for your make and model to get some good suggestions.
Check the link and find your tv and go thru the owner’s thread and you will get lots of good advice for best picture setttings.
In fact, there is. Check the setup menu in your TV for a “cinema mode” or something to that effect. It deals with the problems you’ve observed. Not all TVs have it, but many do.
