Does Non-HD Footage Look Worse on an LCD HDTVs than on CRT TVs?

Question by Viation: Does Non-HD Footage Look Worse on an LCD HDTVs than on CRT TVs?
I bought the Sony 52W4100. Just traded up from my sony CRT and I have to say the non HD channels on the W4100 dont look nearly as good as my old analog set.

Answer by MtlNick
it’s normal in that sense that an HD tv have a bigger resolution but that doesn’t change the signal so the noise that might be unnoticeable on a CRT will be more visible on an HD tv. try also to keep the original aspect ratio(with black bars on the side)

Question by LinkTheWorld: Do you think Sony will come out with a 32 inch TV that is has 1080p????
Currenty you can only get this on 40 inch TV’s or higher. So do you think they will or not because most people say they cant tell between 720p and 1080p on a 32 inch TV????

Best answer:

Answer by stickymongoose
Sony is a bit unwilling to label anything with 1080p, because at the moment, there’s no such thing as a true 1080p signal. They’re calling sets “full HD” instead, because there’s no real way to know when 1080p will be available, or if it will even be supported by the current models.

Is the Sharp Aquos a good choice for gaming and watching sports?

Best answer:

Answer by Golfer
I’d go with Sony or Sharp (Aquous models). The Sharp will be a little less$ and (in my opinion) just as good as the Sony. You won’t see a difference between 720p and 1080p at that size. Look for one with a high contrast ratio and fast response time (6ms or under is generally good).
